Getting A New Business Sign

One of the first things people need when they start a new business is a sign (once they have a business location) – If you depend on walk-in customers, a sign can make or break your business.

I live in a high growth area. In fact we are one of the fastest growing cities in the county, so I see lots of new business with lots of new signs. There is one particular business sign that I drive by everyday and I still don’t know what the sign is for. The sign is in cursive and all the letters are bunched together. Traffic drives by this particular business at 45 Miles Per Hour – not sure how the new business owner expects anyone to read his sign. As an entrepreneur I want to stop and offer some free advice, but at this point it my be to late.

If you are looking for a business sign in Texas go to a reputable company like a FastSings franchise. These guys are experts and well trained. They can offer you advice on what works and what does not work for your sign needs.

If you can’t find a FastSings near you, find a business that has a sign you like that is suitable for the traffic and the business. Approach the owner and ask him who made his sign. (do this more than once) -

There seem to be a lot of people leaving the mid-west and North East to seek employment in TX – we don’t have a state income tax and we are doing better against the recession then other areas of the country. So as my daddy use to say, Come on down to Texas.

Cost Segregation

I just learned something new about the U.S. Tax law and how it relates to building amortization, the term is Cost Segregation and accelerated depreciation under MACRS (Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System).. You can accelerate your amortization and turn a building into a cash cow a lot sooner. Of course this just defers your tax liability, but if you need to improve cash flow in the short term it is a great option.
